We continue God's Creation story with his favorite creation...Man. We celebrate our senses that God gave us and experiment the importance of each. Sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste are given to us to keep us safe and help us understand our surroundings. The children learn how nerve cells send messages from the parts of our body to our brain to tell us what is happening around us.
We enjoy games for each sense: "I Spy", the telephone game, guessing objects in a sack by touch, guessing smells, and tasting experiments. A favorite game we play is the sensory walk outside with the children walking barefooted over spaghetti, cotton balls, pebbles, ice, bubble wrap, oatmeal and shaving cream. For snack we have salty and sweet and soft and crunchy treats followed by "mystery juice". We read the story "Seven Blind Mice" and have fun guessing what they were crawling around and feeling.
Most importantly, we learn that our senses help us enjoy life and keep us safe.
