MAMMALS

The petting zoo was here last week, so let's talk mammals!  What makes an animal a mammal? Mammals have fur or hair, a large brain, a backbone, give live birth, produce milk for their young, breath air and are warm-blooded. We are mammals too!  Is a Camel a Mammal? is a great book we use to teach and compare mammal characteristics. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, so what mammals live in the ocean? Ask your child.

We shared which mammals are our favorites and had fun making our own mammal masks and painting our faces like our favorite mammal!  Some of my favorite mammals are monkeys because they are funny and have so much in common with our social behavior. We danced like our favorite animals, and we acted like monkeys too!

It was fun "monkeying around" with our Science Fun friends!

Next Week: Bats!
