Color and Light
God said,"Let there be light!" We will continue with God's Creation series and explain that God created the first natural light - the sun. We will compare natural light to artificial light. Light is energy and it's rays can pass through some objects that are transparent or translucent, while causing shadows of objects that are opaque. The room will be darkened this week with black curtains. The children will make their own colorful mirrors and then we will learn that light rays can bend (reflective light)and will experiment with the mirrors and flashlights in the dark.We will use prisms and CDs to show how light beams can be separated into the individual colors of the rainbow. We will compare black and white photos to color photos to show how light is used to capture and reflect the beautiful colors of our world. The children will also make a "color tops" so that they can see how colors can change while spinning. They will also experiement with color in milk and how water can make colors run and change as they melt into one another. We will end the day with a colorful fruit snack.
Please ask your child all about the day!
